Cirkus Bearing
A complete Cirkus bearing is available. The udpdated bearing was released by Linn in 1993. It built on the success of the previous bearing with even finer tolerances and is a major upgrade for older LP12 turntables. How do you know if you have an older bearing? There are some visual inicators when viewed from the top, after removing the inner platter. Pre-Cirkus bearing liners, whether they grey-white or black inner lining, are flush with the top of the bearing sleeve. The colour of the three screws could also be indicators. Viewed from below, the shaft is the same width while a Cirkus bearing has a flanged shaft.
The Cirkus bearing available is in excellent condition and was removed to make way for a new generation Karousel bearing on a client's LP12, part of a major upgrade. It includes the main bearing, inner platter, fasteners, grommets, and sub chassis. Note that installing the bearing requires a complete strip down of the LP12. It is best left to someone with the required experience and tools.
