Pre-owned LP12 Turntables
We try to put potential owners and buyers in contact with one another. If you are looking for a unit, contact us and we will try to secure one for you. Units may not always be available at the time and a potential client may have to wait for a unit to become available.
Quite often we simply connect the buyer and seller and from there on it is out of our hands. Sometimes a seller will leave a unit with us and we will then sell the item on behalf of the seller. We do not charge anything for this, except where travelling and the purchase of parts are involved.
As stated elsewhere, transporting a LP12 without its original packaging is a huge risk and we will not use a courier company to do this. Either the buyer collects the unit from us (or the current owner) or where possible we will take the unit to the new owner and set it up there. Note that this applies only for deliveries in the general Pretoria area.
Pre-owned LP12 turntables available
As on 12 August 2025, two units are available.
1987+ Lingo 1/Ittok/Troika MC
The first unit came in today. This is a LP12 with Lingo 1 power supply, a Ittok tonearm and a super-rare Troika MC cartridge in great condition. The cartridge's original box with serial number is available. The entire turntable is in excellent condition. The lid is in the best condition we have ever seen for a pre-owned unit of this age. While it curiously does not have a serial number on the back of the plinth (they often fall off), it is roughly a 1987 or later unit, based on the colour of the bearing oil (from 1987, serial number 70 000 onwards, the oil was changed to black). The bearing is pre-Cirkus. The fluted plinth has the corner bracing added to plinths from 1984 onwards. We have opened the unit to locate the serial number written on the bottom of the top plate, but could not locate it.
The turntable does not need any servicing. The suspension is perfect and the armboard is level with the top plate and the plinth. Having consistently played the turntable for the past few days, there are no indications that it needs any further attention. The startup is fast and switching between 33 and 45 rpm is as per the standards.
In terms of small items that may require attention, note the following:
- The lid does not have any hinges. These items are usually one of the first to fail. While we could try to locate a set of hinges, it depends on availability. While the photos show the LP12 with its lid open, the hinges are from another unit and were put on only for display purposes.
- The miniscule rubber feet below the lid are no longer there. These usually fall off in no time. The new owner may insert a small piece of rubber in the hole if they require.
Price: R32 000.00. The unit is on display for audition. The new owner takes the unit as is. If in the Pretoria area, we offer to set up the unit for the buyer, should they want us to. The unit will be available to the new owner once funds have cleared in our account.

1982 Valhalla/Ittok
The second unit is a 1982 unit with a Valhalla power supply, recapped in 2023, a Ittok tonearm in a great condition, and a brand-new Audio Technica AT VM95E moving magnet cartridge. The unit is well-serviced and will run perfectly from the start. The fluted Afromosia plinth is superb and is one of the best-looking examples of this very rare wood. The lid is the smoked version, and in excellent condition for its age. The hinges have been fixed and are good for another ten years or more.
Price: R25 000.00. The unit is on display for audition. The new owner takes the unit as is. If in the Pretoria area, we offer to set up the unit for the buyer, if they want to. The unit will be available to the new owner once funds have cleared in our account.
